Vuelta al Pais Vasco: encouraging feedbacks for Rui Costa

Rui Costa predicted that his form would improve during the Vuelta al País Vasco stage race, and it did. The Portuguese cyclist of team UAE Team Emirates moved up the classification every day to finish 12th in the final overall.

He closed the WorldTour stage race 6-29 minutes behind Primoz Roglic (LottoNL-Jumbo). It ended with a 122.2-kilometre stage to Arrate, where he finished 17th.

“The route today was hard and it was taken at a high pace the entire stage,” said Costa.
“I’m pretty satisfied overall with my performance in the Vuelta al País Vasco. Above all, because it helped my form by facing these difficult stages every day. That will help with the Ardennes Classics ahead. Now I feel ready to aim for these goals.”
