Yates & Ayuso headline for Romandie as Del Toro debuts in Asturias

Politt leads on home turf in Frankfurt

UAE Team Emirates will head to the Tour de Romandie which runs from 23 April- 28 April, in the last block of big races before the Giro D’Italia in May.
The team goes in with several prospects with defending champion Adam Yates taking aim at the General Classification alongside Juan Ayuso who took his first World Tour win at the same race 12 months before.

Yates: “Obviously coming back as the defending champions we have a bit of expectation to do well again this year. My first race back in Abruzzo was good and I think the form has come on another level since then so it’s all going in the right direction.”

Ayuso : “I have great memories from this race – it’s where I took my first ever World Tour win as well as being a beautiful region and place to race a bike. The form is good and we’ll be aiming to go for a big result with the quality of the team we have.

The team will also compete at the Vuelta Asturias in Spain from 26-28 April and also the Eschborn-Frankfurt classic in Germany on May 1. Young Isaac Del Toro will be the teams prospect for GC in Spain as Nil Politt will represent on home soil in the German one-day classic.

The team will be guided by Sports Directors Fabrizio Guidi (Ita) and Simone Pedrazzini (Swi) over the six days in Romandie, while Andrej Hauptman (Slo) and Marco Marzano (Ita) will take charge at Eschborn-Frankfurt.

Tomas Gil (Ven) and Manuele Mori (Ita) will assume sporting responsibilities in Vuelta Asturias.
