Polanc 8th on 3rd stage of Adriatica Ionica Race

Slovenian rider is 8th in the GC too

Another eighth place for Jan Polanc in the Adriatica Ionian Race, 24 hours after his 8th on the queen stage which finished at Lake Misurina. The Slovenian from UAE Team Emirates repeated the same result also in the 3rd stage which finished in Cormòns.

Polanc (photo Bettini) fought hard on the stage which was played out on a course littered with short but challenging climbs and now stands at 2’13 behind leader Remco Evenepoel (Deceuninck-Quick Step), protagonist of an daring breakaway that brought him solo to the finish line.
The general classification is led by Mark Padun (Bahrain-Merida), Polanc is 8th (+2’55”).
The final stage, 133,5 km from Cormòns to Trieste, will be suitable for sprinter.

The analysis of Director Sportif, Marco Marzano: “The idea was to try to play our cards with Riabushenko and with Polanc.
Unfortunately, on the downhill 40 km from the finish, the young Belarussian was involved in a fall. He returned before the final climb, after some excellent work by Rui Oliveira, but then paid for the effort.
Polanc is looking good too, he seems to be adjusting well after his time at altitude”.
