Two UAE Team Emirates’ riders in the top 20

Rui Costa 16th and Polanc 17th in Oropa

UAE Team Emirates’ Rui Costa (Bettini photo) and Jan Polanc came 16th and 17th respectively on the tough summit finish in Oropa (+1’19” and +1’22”) conserving energy for the final week of the 100th Giro d’Italia.
Whilst Tom Dumoulin (Team Sunweb) became the first non-Italian rider to win the Oropa stage extending his lead in the general classification.

 

Tomorrow’s 199 km stage 15 starts in Valdengo and crosses the densely-populated area north on Milan, one of Italian cycling’s heartlands finish in Bergamo. The first 150 km of the race is on rolling roads whilst the final portion takes in three peaks between 5 – 12% at the steepest part copying the 2016 Tour of Lombardy route.
