UAE Team Emirates in Italy for the Coppa Bernocchi

Young talented riders and the fast Modolo in the line-up

UAE Team Emirates is preparing for their last event before the World Championships in Bergen: on Thursday, September 14th, President Matar’s formation will race in Italy in the Coppa Bernocchi (with start and arrival in Legnano, for 198 km).

Spots Director Orlando Maini (Italy) can count on a formation predominated by young talent, led by the experts and sprinters Sacha Modolo and Andrea Guardini.
This is the Emirati team’s selection for the Coppa Bernocchi:
– Simone Consonni (Italy)
– Filippo Ganna (Italy)
– Andrea Guardini (Italy)
– Seid Lizde – trainee (Italy)
– Sacha Modolo (Italy)
– Alexandr Riabushenko – trainee (Italy)
– Francesco Romano – trainee (Italy)
– Oliviero Troia (Italy)

Orlando Maini, Sports Director: “In the race we will be relying on a foundation of young riders, including all three of our trainees, led by our experts Modolo and Guardini.
We will try to make the most out of our exuberance to be there in the breaks which will eventually fire up the race, then work for Modolo or Consonni should things come down to a final sprint.”

Sacha Modolo (photo): “I have a special bond with the Coppa Bernocchi, and I’ve already won it twice. I would like to make it to a place where I can vie for success this year as well; I will be racing a few days after the end of the Vuelta, so I should be in good shape; we’ll have to see whether or not I’ve fully recovered the energy I expended in Spain, where I also had to recover after a fall. I’ll see how I’m feeling in the race. One thing’s for certain, I will definitely hit the ground running.”
