Alexander Kristoff top 5 in Oman’s 4th stage

Rui Costa keeps his 4th place ahead of the queen stage

UAE Team Emirates’s Alexander Kristoff sprints to fifth behind winner Sonny Colbrelli (Bahrain-Merida) in the Tour of Oman’s fourth stage today.

The 131-kilometre stage from Yiti to the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre came to a sprint finish with Colbrelli getting the best of Greg Van Avermaet (CCC) and Clement Venturini (AG2R). Kristoff, already a stage winner this year, was just behind.

“It was hard stage with a lot of climbs. The team did a good job staying with me and helping me over them,” Kristoff said. “In the final, we had good position, but maybe I hesitated too much. It was a hard finish also, uphill, I was waiting waiting, and the end, I was a little blocked. I had to brake in the sprint. It’s easy to say after what you should have done. It was a small mistake for me, I’m not too happy with myself, but I’ll have another chance in two days.”

In the overall classification, Alexey Lutsenko (Team Astana) still leads. UAE Team Emirates’s Rui Costa maintains his fourth spot ahead of the big stage tomorrow. The queen stage of this 10th edition ends with the climb up Green Mountain after 152 kilometres.
