Cosnefroy and Wellens lead at GP du Morbihan and Tro Bro Leon

Experienced squad for double French one-day tests

UAE Team Emirates-XRG will continue its European one-day campaign this weekend with a versatile and experienced squad set to compete at both the Grand Prix du Morbihan on 9 May and the iconic Tro-Bro Léon on 10 May in France.

The Emirati squad heads to Brittany with a line-up well suited to the demanding terrain and unpredictable racing conditions that characterise both events. Belgian classics specialist Tim Wellens and French puncheur Benoît Cosnefroy will headline the team’s ambitions across the two races, bringing experience and attacking flair to the hilly Breton roads.

The Grand Prix du Morbihan, traditionally featuring rolling terrain and punchy climbs around Plumelec, often favours aggressive riders capable of repeated accelerations in the finale. One day later, the peloton takes on the unique challenge of Tro-Bro Léon, known for its narrow farm tracks, gravel sectors, and unpredictable racing that has earned it the nickname of the “French Paris-Roubaix.”

Supporting the leaders will be a balanced group featuring Filippo Baroncini, Rune Herregodts, Sebastián Molano, and Portuguese twins Ivo Oliveira and Rui Oliveira, giving the team multiple tactical options across varying race scenarios.

Tim Wellens:
These are always exciting races because they’re aggressive and unpredictable from the start. The roads in Brittany suit attacking racing, and with the team we have here, we’ll look to be active and fight for a result in both events.”

The team will be directed by Sports Directors Fabrizio Guidi and Jan Polanc.
