UAE Team Emirates squad confirmed for BinckBank Tour and Ardennes Classics

BinckBank, Fleche Wallonne and Liege-Bastogne-Liege kick-start Belgian campaign

The Emirati squad will continue their post Tour de France campaign at the BinckBank Tour (UWT) which takes place between 29 September – 3 October over five stages across both The Netherlands and Belgium.

 
The team will aim for stage wins with Jasper Philipsen in the sprints, with the in-form Alessandro Covi expected to be given free-rein to hunt for glory also.

 

 

Sports Directors Allan Peiper (Aus) and Andrej Hauptman (Slo) and assistant-director Manuele Mori (Ita) will lead the following riders:

Philipsen: “Last year I also rode BinckBank and came close to winning a stage. It’s 5 days of hard racing and from looking at the parcours there are a few days that suit me well.This year I hope to go one step further and go for a stage win. We have a good team for the week so I’m looking forward to it and really motivated to race on home roads here in Belgium.”

 

 
The team will also gear-up for a the first of the Ardennes Classic races :
La Flèche Wallonne [1.UWT] on 30-Sep-2020 and Liège-Bastogne-Liège [1.UWT] on 04-Oct-2020

 

 

Tour de France champion Tadej Pogačar will lead the team, with veteran former world champion Rui Costa also offering experience and a solid pair of legs.

 

 

Sports Directors Neil Stephens (Aus) and Simone Pedrazzini (Swi) will take charge for Flèche Wallonne, while Stephens will be joined by his compatriot Allan Peiper (Aus) for Liege-Bastogne-Liege.

Pogačar: “I came out of the Tour pretty well. I have managed to recover a bit and my goal is to finish off the last part of the season in a good way. As always if I have the legs I will try something, but also am willing to sacrifice for my teammates if they are strong , as I did in the World Championships.”
