Unrivaled Modolo in Zagreb

Double for the UAE Team Emirates in the final stage of the Tour of Croatia.

Sacha Modolo preceded the team mate Jan Polanc on the arrival in Zagreb (photo www.tourofcroatia.com), 147 km from the start in Sambor, adding a third victory to the two ones which were already been obtained by the team of the president Matar (Modolo in the 1st stage and Durasek in the 2nd stage).

The finish line was in the historic center of Zagreb, where the riders covered narrow roads. Polanc attacked in the final 1000 meters and his action was a foretaste of the winning acceleration by Modolo: no opponents succeeded to react to Sacha’s progression.
Behind the Emirati duo, Van Poppel obtained the 3rd place.

Good performance by Guardini, who was in a breakaway of 15 athletes which led the race, allowing the rest of the team to pedal well covered in the peloton.

In the final general classification, Polanc is 5th (+40″ to the winner Nibali).

Modolo’s victory is the 11th one for the UAE Team Emirates’ riders in the 2017 season.

“I’m happy I completes a very good performance by the team, Jan and me obtained an impressive double  – Modolo commented – The finale was not easy, it was necessary to have power and stamina, I had good feelings.
My morale in view of the Giro is high“.
